I provide evidence-based therapy to support children and adults with various challenges, including anxiety, emotion regulation, depression, anger, attachment disturbance, trauma and family-related issues. I have experience working with difficulties with school avoidance and self-harming behaviours, along with providing parent training and/or consultation.

I work from a client-centred, eclectic framework with an emphasis on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) informed care for ages 12 and up while incorporating mindfulness-based techniques. I use psychodynamic theory to explore clients past experiences and relational needs in order to fully understand the client.

I have 8 years of experience working with youth and adults. I previously worked at an Adult Inpatient Psychiatric Unit, in Child Welfare working with at-risk children and youth with complex needs. Currently, I am employed as a Child and Youth Mental Health Counsellor with the Avon Maitland District School Board. I am a strong advocate for mental health and have been active in the research community with a focus on improving service delivery. I sit on a committee that aims to improve services for transitional aged youth with mental health difficulties.

I view psychotherapy as a collaborative process. I believe in promoting the resilience of youth by focusing on their strengths and involving parents in the therapeutic process when permitted. I will work with you to identify your challenges and create a collaborative plan to achieve your goals.
